It's a Jungle In Here

The kids’ room is one of my favorite spaces that emerged from my NYC apartment makeover.  My design approach to this room was to set a relatively neutral foundation with pieces like the beds, bedside tables, and shelves.  I’ve learned it’s wise to keep core elements simple, so you can update the storytelling aspects of your decor easily as your child's tastes evolve (meaning jungle today, spaceship tomorrow).  For this room, I went to my favorite source for modern children’s furniture, 2modern. They have a great selection of brands like Babyletto and Oeuf which helped streamline my design process.

Our current mood is Jungle!  And that meant layering on fun colors, textures, and motifs to bring the room to life.  I looked to one of my favorite home collections, Tamar Mogendorff, to inject a playful layer to the room- her artisanal swan hangs from the ceiling and felted wool creatures adorn the shelves. I layered Tamar’s shaggy date palm rug and poofs on top of a coral jute rug from Annie Selke and her colorful wool blankets on the bed.  Charming animal watercolors from hang in a series above the beds.
