"It takes a village" is an expression that has new meaning for me as I enter motherhood. Not just as it relates to raising a child, but for everything in life. This year has shown me what an amazing village I have around me. With the support of my family, friends, colleagues, and a few fairy godmothers, I was able to move across the country, set up a new home, run my business and produce the usual slew of ready-to-wear collections all while pregnant. After all that, it finally felt like time to stop and smell the roses with a sip-and-see celebration in honor of the greatest gift of all, our firstborn son.
My dear friends Kate Berry and Tana Chung joined forces with my mother, Barbara Fetherston, to host this incredibly special event. They put their party planning skills to work, bringing together some of Los Angeles best creative talent including Annie Campbell for catering and Elizabeth Messina for photography. They stayed up themselves into the wee hours of the night crafting the beautiful flower arrangements of garden roses, ranunculus, clematis, chamomile, geranium and peonies.
The entire afternoon was a giant love-fest to say the least and what I hope will be the first of many celebrations to come in our new Los Angeles home.
